About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
- Develop experimental approaches to fundamental questions in cosmology, specifically state-of-the-art instrumentation to study the Cosmic Microwave Background.
- Support the fabrication team in the MDL cleanroom by assisting with computer automation of the lithography and deposition systems as well as testing devices and materials that they produce.
- Experience with cryogenic systems, electrical and optical characterization of cryogenic detectors arrays, and design of microwave and millimeter wave circuitry and antennas are all highly desirable.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a relevant field by the start date of the appointment.
- Strong background in cryogenic systems, electrical and optical characterization of cryogenic detectors arrays, and design of microwave and millimeter wave circuitry and antennas.
- Experience with large format antenna-coupled TES bolometer arrays and Thermal Kinetic Inductance Detectors (TKIDs).
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to ongoing NASA research projects.
