Primary Objective

In broad terms, the primary objective of this position is to safely operate heatset machinery to meet and exceed quality, production, and efficiency goals.

Safeguards and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heatset machinery to meet and exceed quality, production, and efficiency goals.
  • Function as a primary source of finish application in yarn conversion resulting in resistance to wear, dimensional stability, and design meeting specifications.

Major Function and Scope

  • Threads and repairs breakouts to maintain efficiency and meet production standards: Ensure timely and efficient handling of broken threads and repairs to maintain production schedules.
  • Proactively identifies yarn quality during production runs: Continuously monitor yarn quality to prevent defects and ensure product consistency.
  • Selects and stages tubes for winder operation: Properly select and stage tubes to prepare for winding operations, ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Doffs off finished yarn packages as required: Remove finished yarn packages as needed, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Maintains daily production records: Keep accurate records of production activities to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Runs both creeling and winding side when needed: Switch between creeling and winding operations as required to optimize production flow.
  • Uses black light to check for mixes: Utilize black light to inspect yarns for any color or material mix-ups, ensuring product integrity.
  • Attends any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision: Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new techniques, safety protocols, and product specifications.
  • Follows all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies: Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties as necessary: Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient operations.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by management: Assist with additional tasks as directed by supervisors to contribute to overall productivity.

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Successful completion of all required on-the-job training, successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training, previous yarn or manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, bend, squat, climb, and work around moving equipment.
  • Working Environment: Regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures.
