About the Role

Performs moderate and selected high complexity tests on clinical laboratory specimens in various laboratory sections. Validates and reports results of tests performed. Performs and documents Quality Control. Performs instrument and equipment maintenance according to policy and procedures. Maintains adequate stock of reagents and supplies. Participates in continuing education.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
• Certification by an approved certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, NCA, AMT). Recent graduates must be certified by ASCP or equivalent board within one year of graduation.
• Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for Associate Degree in the same fields.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory tests on specimens.
• Validate and report test results.
• Perform and document Quality Control procedures.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to policies.
• Ensure adequate stock of reagents and supplies.
• Participate in continuing education activities.

Skills

• Analytical and research skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and PC operations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and statistical methods.
• Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact).
• Writing and composing correspondence/reports.

Schedule

Flexible, with potential travel between Harris Health System facilities.
