About the role

The SUN Teacher will deliver special education services based on an appropriate IEP. The teacher is responsible for delivering functional academic, social, behavioral, communication, and sensory programs that will lead towards an increase in independence in the core transition areas. The transition teacher is also responsible for needed assessment, diagnostic and due process services required by the federal and state standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide needed assessment, diagnostic, and due process services

Requirements

• Must be currently licensed by MDE in a special education teaching area
• ASD or DCD license preferred

Qualifications

• Must have a valid teaching license
• Experience working with students with unique needs
• Ability to provide individualized programming
• Knowledge of sensory, social, behavioral, communication, and academic development

Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Ability to assess and diagnose student needs
• Knowledge of educational standards and regulations
