About the role
Kids in Tech is seeking Summer STEM Program Instructors to deliver engaging hands-on STEM programming as part of the City of Somerville's Summer Spot Program.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with youth in a supportive and collaborative learning environment
- Lead activities in robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, engineering design, digital fabrication, and emerging technologies
- Help students build confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills, and excitement about future STEM opportunities
Requirements
- Passionate about STEM, technology, and making a difference in the lives of young people
- Eager to learn, lead, and serve as positive role models for young people
- Prior teaching experience is welcomed but not required
Qualifications
- High school students, college students, recent graduates, aspiring educators, and young professionals interested in STEM education, youth development, and community impact
Skills
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in STEM fields and a desire to teach and inspire young people

Pay
Competitive hourly pay of $20.00–$30.00 based on experience and qualifications
Schedule
On-site position in Somerville, Massachusetts
Summer 2026 programming beginning in July
Hiring Process
- Qualified candidates will participate in an initial phone screening followed by an interview with program leadership
- Final candidates must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including CORI/SORI background checks and drug screening
