Summer STEM Camp Instructor

About the role

We are looking for a Summer Camp Coding Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day coaching and student engagement, working towards providing a fun and safe learning environment for children.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day coaching and student engagement
• Work with children ages 5 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.)
• Teach and build problem solving skills in young engineering minds
• Quickly problem solve and demonstrate flexibility
• Assist with classroom management
• Comfortable working with children at a high level of energy and enthusiasm
• Experience in two or more of the following platforms or languages: Scratch or block coding, Python, Minecraft MCreator, Minecraft Education Edition, Roblox Studio, LUA, Tinkercad (3D modeling), or video editing/recording
• Consistent, in-person availability for May, June and July
• High quality communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to quickly problem solve and demonstrate flexibility
• Comfortable with technology set-up, including troubleshooting computer issues and assisting students with account logins

Requirements

• Working history with children ages 5 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.)
• Experience working with the general public
• Experience in teaching, mentoring or child care
• Experience and knowledge of coding
• Works well with others; collaborates
• Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or able to quickly pick up basic concepts

Qualifications

• Must be fun to work with and like working in fast-paced environments where requirements can change frequently

Skills

• Experience in two or more of the following platforms or languages: Scratch or block coding, Python, Minecraft MCreator, Minecraft Education Edition, Roblox Studio, LUA, Tinkercad (3D modeling), or video editing/recording
• High quality communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to quickly problem solve and demonstrate flexibility
• Comfortable with technology set-up, concerning everything from troubleshooting computer issues to assisting students with account logins
• Comfortable working with children at a high-level of energy and enthusiasm
• Comfortable leading or assisting in classroom management

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
