Job Description
The academic leads will work jointly with the summer school program director and intervention staff in the planning and implementation of daily activities and/or reading intervention for youth, ages 5-13.
Essential Functions
- Plan and Implement curriculum/activities to support the Summer Program
- Oversee the remote classroom environment to support youth and classroom goals
- Encourage and support youth participation in the activities and learning experience
- Cookordination with other student programs as needed for student successful experience (i.e. supervision of meals, shared spaces, office support, etc.)
- Mets the learning needs of the students by planning instructional strategies appropriate to the students involved, including: the subject matter, the language acquisition targets, and the desired learning objectives
- Participate in program meetings with instructors and collaborate with organization staff
- Assist staff in maintaining student attendance and performance records
Priority To Persons
- Experience with Remote Instruction
- Experience or training using Ipads, Google Classroom, and class Dojo to instruct and communicate with students
- With extensive second language acquisition such as, but not limited to trainings as GLAD, S.l.O.P., etc.
- Experience working with multi-cultural youth who may have been exposed to poverty, gang violence, and substance abuse
- Experience working in a training or education environment preferred
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Minimum of two years of college or two years of applicable experience, Washington State Teaching Certification preferred
- Ability to provide quality student mentoring and coaching, as well as small group and individualized instruction
Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have valid WA State driver's license
- Blood borne Pathogen training (provided)
- Boundary training (provided)
Essential Physical Abilities
- Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 10 lbs. for short distances
- Perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms
- Able to traverse a wide variety of physical indoor and outdoor environments without assistance including uneven surfaces and stairs
- Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing, including those who have limited English skills, large groups and small groups, and individuals
- Able to use standard office equipment without assistance
- Able to maintain reliable attendance
