Overview

The 2027 SCAMP is a ten-week summer conference focusing on applied mathematical problems. It runs from June 14, 2027, through August 20, 2027. The conference brings together a dozen or two visitors, including researchers and sometimes undergraduate students, to work on problems of critical importance to national security. Participants attend lectures and then work on their chosen problems for eight weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Attend introductory lectures on the conference's problem areas.
  • Work on problems individually or in teams.
  • Present findings to an invited audience at the end of the summer.

Requirements

  • PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience with algorithms and programming.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Most participants have a PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related field.
  • Graduate students and exceptional undergraduates in such fields are also considered.
  • Past participation in summer internships with the Department of Defense (such as the NSA’s Director’s Summer Program or Graduate Mathematics Program) is helpful for junior applicants.
