The Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP) is a 6-week summer program offered by The Center Against Domestic Violence, a non-profit organization. This program employs teens from various NYC high schools as Peer Leaders, who are trained to educate others on topics such as teen dating violence, sexual harassment, gender roles, communication styles, and healthy relationships.
What is expected on a daily basis?
Your job involves learning, becoming a leader, and having fun. Activities include presentations by RAPP Coordinators and guest speakers, workshops, group activities, field trips, films, and discussions. Peer Leaders are expected to arrive on time, participate actively, and be open to learning about these important topics.
Hours, Location, and Pay
- Program dates: Wednesday, July 6th to Thursday, August 13th
- Work schedule: Monday through Thursday from approximately 9:30am to 3:30pm with a 1-hour lunch break
- Paid bi-weekly for approximately 24 hours per week, with a provided metrocard for 30 days of the program
- Peer Leaders are responsible for providing their own MetroCard for the remaining days of the program

- Responsible and enthusiastic teens
- Eager to learn and speak in front of groups respectfully
- Available from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Thursday, for the entire summer program
- Willing to adhere to program policies
Application Process
To apply, submit the following forms to your RAPP Coordinator by Thursday, May 31:
- Peer Leader application form
- Parental permission form
- Essay

To be considered, you must have working papers if you are age 14-18, have parental consent, complete the RAPP Peer Leader Application, and be available for the entire 6 weeks (July 6-August 13).

- Must be available to work from 9:30 to 3:30, Monday-Thursday
- Must have permission to travel on train to Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn during the summer
Documents Required for Registration
- If you are age 14-18, you will need:
- Working papers
- Proof of age: Birth Certificate + photo ID, OR social security card + photo ID, OR passport
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Proof of address: Utility bill with your parent or guardian's name on it
- Physical examination by a primary care physician in the past 12 months
You will be informed of the registration date when/if you are selected to participate in the program.
