Summer Music Camp Assistant

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid in the preparation, organization, and execution of Music & Gospel Arts Camp, Junior Conservatory, and Senior Conservatory programs.
• Assist with set-up and tear-down of camp activities, both at Echo Grove Camp and at the Great Lakes Divisional Headquarters.
• Organize and file music materials.
• Teach or assist in music classes such as band, choir, music theory, and other relevant areas.
• Support daily camp operations by moving between classes and transporting musical equipment.
• Contribute to a positive, Christ-centered camp atmosphere that fosters musical growth and spiritual development.
• Perform duties as a cabin counselor, including:
  • Welcome, settle, and ensure the safety of campers during each session.
  • Monitor campers' cleanliness, attire, and safety measures.
  • Encourage campers to practice good hygiene and take necessary precautions against sun and insects.
  • Lead cabin group activities, nightly devotions, and dining hall procedures.
  • Spot campers at the lakefront as needed.
  • Plan activities for the cabin group on rainy days.
  • Check out cabin groups on each camp closing day.
  • Sanitize showers and bathrooms daily and maintain dorm area cleanliness after each session.
  • Complete daily reports and share concerns with the Program Director or local leaders.

Qualifications

• Musical education background or equivalent experience.
• Experience in teaching or assisting in music instruction is preferred.
• Skilled musician with proficiency in one or more areas of band, choir, brass, percussion, piano, etc.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with children and young adults.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, with willingness to learn new software as needed.
• Completion of Safe from Harm training and keeping it up to date.
