Summer Maintenance Crew (LI)
About the role
The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds (HKC) in Long Island, NY is seeking enthusiastic workers to join their maintenance team for a 10-week summer seasonal position from June 29 to August 21. The position is paid $17.00 per hour and offers benefits including paid sick leave, paid holidays, weekly lunch during camp, and bonus opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, leaf blowers, and weed whackers.
- Handle janitorial tasks including emptying garbage cans, cleaning, and restocking bathrooms.
- Remove debris and trash and dispose of it properly.
- Assist with minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing work as needed.
- Ensure the campgrounds are in excellent condition throughout the summer.
Qualifications
- Ability to safely drive various motorized vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with occasional lifting of equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Valid driver's license.
- Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, or carpentry work is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to follow guidance, direction, and supervision.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Good time management and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation.
Pay and Schedule
The pay is determined based on the level of maintenance experience and the expected length of employment. The work schedule is full-time from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime during the weeks leading up to camp. Once camp starts, shifts may extend to 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
