Summer Internship

About the role

Evonik’s Summer Professional Enrichment (SPE) Program is a 12-week internship for undergraduate students to gain real-world experience and expand their knowledge beyond university studies. Interns will apply academic skills to a technical project and collaborate on a cross-functional regional group project. Opportunities are available across the United States in fields such as manufacturing/operations and environmental health & safety. During the interview process, we will match candidates with a work setting and location aligned with their career aspirations.

Interns will have the opportunity to meet executives from Evonik’s North American Leadership Team (NALT), learn about Evonik’s business portfolio, and network with peers through a virtual Let’s Connect Series. You may also join an Employee Resource Group to connect with like-minded individuals, enhance professional development, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and innovation.

This internship offers the chance to apply for Evonik’s Early Career Rotational Programs upon graduation, collaborating with dynamic colleagues on solutions with global reach.

Example projects

• Process Engineering Intern: Contributed to the startup activities of a new chemical process, including updating procedures, redlining P&IDs, and creating Gantt charts to enhance process efficiency.
• Research & Development Intern: Engaged in the development of Evonik’s Eudragit® aqueous dispersion polymer coatings, which control the release and delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in pills, tablets, and capsules.
• Production Engineering Intern: Reviewed and redlined technical drawings for integrating a new flow meter on a centrifuge, ensuring compliance with site engineering standards.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry.
• Must have the ability to relocate anywhere in the USA.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

Pay

Program pay range: $21.00–$27.00 per hour.
