About the role

Swiss Re’s 12‑week Summer Internship program provides undergraduate and master’s students with on‑the‑job training and off‑the‑job learning opportunities. Interns work on meaningful projects, participate in industry‑relevant training, and build connections through social and networking events. The program is designed as a first step toward a rewarding career in (re)insurance.

Responsibilities

• Work on meaningful projects across various teams (Business Development, Alternative Capital Partners, Risk Consulting & Analytics, Client Data Management, Portfolio Analytics Engineering).
• Participate in industry‑relevant training and social/networking events.
• Gain exposure to client strategy, market research, competitive analysis, and business development initiatives.
• Assess market trends, support client engagements, and contribute to projects that drive commercial success.
• Develop analytical, strategic, and relationship‑management skills while learning about the global reinsurance industry.
• Gain exposure to investor engagement, market analysis, business development, and strategic projects in asset management.
• Work alongside professionals in investment, marketing, and client relationship functions to understand insurance‑linked securities and alternative investment solutions.
• Support projects involving data analysis, market research, and client deliverables in risk consulting.
• Gain exposure to consulting engagements and analytical problem solving, learning how risk insights and data‑driven recommendations create value.
• Work with large datasets, support data quality efforts, and contribute to projects that enhance reporting, efficiency, and data‑driven decision‑making in client data management.
• Develop technical and analytical skills while improving data management processes.
• Contribute to data analysis, automation, dashboard development, and reporting solutions in portfolio analytics engineering.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders while gaining exposure to modern data technologies, financial markets, and analytics‑driven decision making.

Requirements

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Interest in insurance, reinsurance, asset management, consulting, data analytics, technology, or financial markets.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Pay

The internship base salary will be $23‑$30 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, projected graduation year and/or highest degree held.
