Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and USI policies and maintain a classroom environment in accordance with these expectations.
- Assist in preparing and implementing creative and age-appropriate activities for the children.
- Aid in maintaining classroom management using appropriate, positive methods.
- Review the campers’ “special needs list” and any staff or parent notes to ensure special needs are met (allergies, medical conditions, etc.).
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all parents and staff through daily conversations and notes as directed by Lead Teacher.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable University and camp policies and procedures.
- Respond appropriately during times of emergency, maintaining a calm demeanor and keeping children safe from harm.
- Share in household duties to maintain a clean, safe environment, free from unsightly clutter.
- Be sensitive to children’s, parents’, and staff’s needs and maintain a nurturing atmosphere, treating all children and adults with respect.
- Report to Supervisor/Lead Teacher/Teacher any issues or concerns that inhibit or prevent quality programming.
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and in-service workshops.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Some college coursework.
- Work experience or a combination of work experience and education in a closely related field may be substituted when it has provided equivalent preparation.
- Possess a pleasant personality that encourages a cooperative work environment.
- Have a calming, nurturing influence with children and maintain good classroom control and high educational standards.
Preferred Knowledge And Skills
- A degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or Education.
