Summer Congregate Residential Counselor - Camp Wediko

About the role

Camp Wediko is hiring temporary Residential Counselors for the Summer 2026 program (June 25 – August 18, 2026) to work with children and adolescents who have social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Counselors may serve as Direct Care, Assistant Teachers, or Activities Instructors, working in teams of 6‑8 under a Clinical Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Establish a safe, nurturing, therapeutic environment for youth.
• Provide direct care and supervision for the assigned cabin group.
• Participate in daily group therapy led by the Cabin Group Supervisor.
• Engage in individual therapeutic and behavioral interventions supporting treatment goals.
• Maintain consistent structures and routines to support a predictable schedule.
• Model respectful communication, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving skills.
• Participate in recreational activities (archery, swimming, athletics, canoeing, dance, art, music, kayaking, brain games, nature and discovery, mountain biking) and provide coaching as needed.
• Utilize approved behavior‑management techniques, including de‑escalation strategies.
• Seek and apply feedback from Clinical Group Supervisors for professional development.
• Follow agency policies for emergencies and report safety concerns to Lead Staff, Clinical Supervisors, or Program Coordinators.
• Complete required documentation such as critical incident reports and progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Supportive and creative approach to challenges.
• Adaptability in an ever‑changing work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk rugged terrain on an outdoor, wooded campus.
• Capacity to work outdoors in hot, humid, and rainy summer conditions.
• Ability to bend, hold, and lift as required for behavior‑management techniques.
• Responsibility for transportation to and from pick‑up/drop‑off locations (Manchester Airport, Boston Logan Airport, or direct campus transport).

Schedule

The program runs from June 25 to August 18, 2026. Counselors are expected to be on‑site from wake‑up through bedtime routines each day.
