About the role

The internship provides hands-on experience in a global financial institution, allowing you to work alongside senior bankers and contribute to deals, projects, and assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lending professionals with:
    • Working as part of deal teams in live deal execution, primarily project finance-typed transactions.
    • Analyze transaction profitability.
    • Conduct industry and market research.
    • Perform credit risk analysis and contribute to the preparation of credit approval proposals.
    • Prepare and/or present transaction proposals.
    • Create and/or update financial models and analyze results.
    • Cook up and/or update financial models and analyze results.
    • Coordinate transaction closing.
    • Maintain client relationships and support the team with quarterly credit reviews, ad-hoc requests, ratings, and periodic portfolio reviews or presentations.
    • Support the team with cashflow and scenario analysis from the financial models.
    • Aid in preparing and processing loan modification/amendment requests.
    • Review and summarize ongoing reporting deliverables and track covenant compliance.
    • Liaise with other product specialists and departments throughout ING.
    • Stay informed of trends in various industries and the position of competitors.
    • Prepare ad-hoc/general research assignments.
    • Ensure clients receive an excellent level of service.
    • Communicate effectively and coordinate with team members to meet deadlines.
    • Support ESG assessments and risk ratings.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate college student, graduating in 2028 in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
  • Graduate students may also be considered for certain roles.
  • Liberal arts majors interested in careers in finance and banking are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience / Knowledge: Prior internship and/or relevant financial experience is helpful. Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and especially Excel). Financial modelling and credit writing exposure is valuable. Knowledge of project finance and / or corporate finance is desirable.

  • Financial modeling and credit writing exposure.
  • Knowledge of project finance and / or corporate finance.
