About the Role

Ally Financial is offering an 11-week paid internship designed to move students from educated to experienced. The Ally Internship Program guides and mentors students with development opportunities and experiences that support career interests while driving the business forward. Interns have the opportunity to connect with diverse teams and functions across the company, interact with Ally's leadership and learn from their personal successes, and gain experience to know what it means to be an Ally.

Program Details

  • Internship Program Timing: May 21 – July 31, 2027 (tentative)
  • 40 hours each week with a mix of in-office and remote working days
  • Project-based work
  • Market driven hourly compensation and a sign-on bonus, as well as financial housing assistance for those who qualify
  • Successful interns will have the opportunity to return to Ally in an Early Talent Program or full-time role, or to a second internship, depending upon graduation timing

Consumer Banking Internship – Payments Organization

As a summer intern within the Payments organization at Ally, you will play a key role in one of Ally's core capabilities, money movement.

Intern Key Experiences

  • Hands-on exposure to payment systems and rails, including how money moves across the ecosystem and the operational considerations that support successful payment experiences
  • Real-world experience supporting product development from strategy through execution, including research, planning, and delivery of customer-focused improvements
  • Opportunities to build analytical, communication, and presentation skills through work on business cases, product insights, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Exposure to management of key third-party relationships, including how external partners support product capabilities, operations, and strategic goals
  • Mentorship from expert leaders in payments and product management

Key Intern Skills & Competencies

  • Communication & Storytelling – Intern will develop professional skills in stakeholder communication, business case development, and presentation to leadership
  • Multi-tasking & Prioritization – Intern will learn how to identify, assess, and propose pivotal initiatives seeking improved digital adoption and reducing friction in the customer journey
  • Critical thinking – Intern will learn more about the end-to-end experience for Ally's customers and how Payments plays a part in the overall journey

Qualifications

Required

  • Rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Available for the full duration of the internship program
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future
  • A passion for the financial services and technology industry is strongly preferred

Preferred

  • Previous internship experience or relevant project work is preferred
  • Extracurricular activities/leadership experience is preferred (student organizations, volunteering, sports, part-time roles, etc.)

Pay

Base Pay Range: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour. An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
