About the role
The Fifth Third Bank Leadership Program (LP) Internship is designed to provide students with exposure to a variety of banking disciplines while building meaningful work experience through assignments within one line of business or division. The internship experience consists primarily of on-the-job training supplemented by networking opportunities, educational offerings, and performance coaching and feedback. The intern is integrated into the group's day-to-day activities and projects, operating as a team member on larger initiatives and working independently on smaller projects.
Interns are responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, interns achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
Responsibilities
- Perform assignments as determined by the Assignment Leader.
- Complete specific projects as assigned by the Assignment Leader or Program Manager, utilizing project management skills to manage and report on project status.
- Actively participate in community volunteerism projects.
- Engage in leadership development activities (training classes, speaker series, etc.), supplementing on-the-job learning.
- Deliver a formal presentation to line of business or division leaders.
- Build a network of resources within the assigned line of business, division, or across functions.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong academic record (targeted minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA) with at least 1-2 years of college coursework completed.
- Interest in pursuing a career in banking.
- Relevant internship and/or work experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, leadership, business acumen, relationship building, and teamwork through extracurricular activities, work experience, or academic pursuits.
- Entry-level use and basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and aptitude to learn additional software applications.
- Professional customer service skills, capable of responding to standard requests from internal and external customers.
- Able to solve routine problems by following defined procedures.
- Capable of managing own time to meet deadlines set by Manager and Assignment Leader.
- Ability to complete work with direction, guidance, and instructions from others.
- Strong communication skills, choosing the most effective form of communication (meeting, fax, phone, or email) and responding quickly to requests.
- Ability to convey a positive first impression and develop positive working relationships.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

The base salary for this position reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education, and geographic location.
