As a Summer 2027 Actuarial Intern, you'll be welcomed into an inclusive and dynamic culture where you'll play a key role in helping to drive toward Pacific Life's goals. Interns will spend their summer in the Charlotte, NC office working at a Fortune 500 company in the financial services industry, involved in a diverse array of challenging actuarial projects and internship program activities.

Program Highlights

  • Product Training: You will be trained in Pacific Life’s Annuity products to ensure you start your internship with a high-level understanding of what we offer to our customers.
  • Mentorship: You will be assigned an Executive and peer mentor who will meet with you to discuss their knowledge and experience and provide guidance on your internship and career path.
  • Hands On Experience: You will participate in actuarial projects that contribute to your teams’ and company goals. Examples include:
    • Creating dashboards to visualize data
    • Rider Analysis
    • Cash Flow Analysis
    • Creating tools for efficiency
  • Rotational Events: You will be invited to interactive learning sessions where key actuaries provide overviews of their departments and job duties, including exposure to Modeling, Risk Management, Product Design, Pricing, Valuation, Reinsurance, and more.
  • Social Activities: Networking opportunities, Executive speaker series, community service events, and social outings.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in actuarial projects that support team and company objectives.
  • Collaborate with mentors and peers to expand your knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in training, rotational events, and social activities designed to enhance your internship experience.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least 1 Society of Actuaries exam is required.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Actuarial Science.
  • Expected graduation between December 2027 and May/June 2028.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Desire to gain more experience in the actuarial field.

Pay

The base pay rate for this position is:

  • $26.00 per hour for one Society of Actuaries exam passed
  • $27.00 per hour for two exams passed
  • $28.00 per hour for three exams passed
  • $29.00 per hour for four exams passed

(Pay is based on exam progress.)
