Sugar Specialist - Carrollton

Primary Responsibilities

• Fill and properly measure bulk sugar trailers & molasses trucks or cars
• Accurately complete paperwork daily
• Operate powdered mill, adjust starch, adjust weights and take sugar samples
• Operate & setup, do magnet checks on tote machine & stack totes with fork lift
• Maintain valid fork truck and track mobile license
• Follow all safe work practices and procedures for assigned tasks
• Understand and follow SQF & GMP guidelines
• Fill and hand stack bags weighing 50 frequently during the shift
• Climb stairs, ladders, use catwalks, bend & lift repetitively
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Position Qualifications

• Computer skills
• Math, written and oral communication skills
• Follow all SQF & GMP quality system guidelines & safety practices
• Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and work in any condition, indoors or outdoors
• Maintain a valid fork truck license
• Work any shift and weekend overtime as required
• Able to climb stairs, ladders, use catwalks, bend and lift throughout the day
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Work in a team setting as needed to ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently

Established in 1906, Michigan Sugar is a cooperative whose nearly 1,000 grower-owners annually harvest about 160,000 acres of sugarbeets from fields in 19 Michigan counties, as well as Ontario.
