SUDS Counselor, Florence, OR

About the role

Emergence is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated SUD Counselor to join our team in Florence, Oregon. This position offers a dynamic career filled with opportunity, comprehensive outpatient treatment for mental health, substance use disorder, and problem gambling, and a supportive, collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manages client flow in Florence office with little direct supervision.
• Manages all aspects of a case from date of entry to date of discharge.
• Evaluates patients' physical and mental behaviors.
• Develops appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
• Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions.
• Makes sure patients are monitored over time to assess treatment progress.
• Collaborates with psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and departments of correction as needed.
• Identifies behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
• Aids primary caregivers in managing addiction-related behavior.

Requirements

• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I or II (CADC-I or CADC-II).
• Previous experience with the treatment of substance use disorders.
• Application of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services' (SAMHSA) best practice indicators.
• In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions.
• Self-starter, capable of carrying out multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate nature.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemical dependency counseling, or a bachelor's degree with coursework in chemical dependency.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems like Carelogic.
• Experience with co-occurring health and mental health disorders.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (highly desired).

Pay

$50,000 - $61,000 per year

Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
