SUDs Counselor - Blackburn

About the role

At Blackburn Center, we believe recovery happens when treatment, housing, healthcare, mental health support, employment services, and community come together. This innovative integrated care model aims to help individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders build long-term stability and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screenings, assessments, and individualized treatment planning
  • Provide individual counseling and group facilitation
  • Deliver case management and care coordination services
  • Support clients in crisis while helping them navigate recovery goals
  • Connect clients to community resources and culturally responsive services

Requirements

  • Must have one of the following: CADC-1, CADC-2, CADC-3
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED, advanced degree preferred
  • QMHA-R preferred

Qualifications

  • Must have experience working in chemical dependency treatment, preferably with outpatient adults who have been adjudicated to treatment and/or people with co-occurring mental health disorders
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and skills in group facilitation
  • Must have experience working with DUII system requirements as set forth by the State and referral sources
  • Must have knowledge and skills in de-escalation methods or ability to be trained in de-escalation methods
  • Must have knowledge and skills in crisis intervention
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of community and social service agencies with the ability to provide case management services as needed
  • Must be able to work a range of hours
  • Must adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace policies

  • Ability to work courteously and effectively communicate with the general public, clients, medical personnel, corrections personnel, police, and co-workers
  • Ability to provide quality documentation in an electronic health record within 72 hours of service provided
