About the role
This position supports students from enrollment through graduation by advising on program and career options, teaching a college success course, and managing a caseload of First Time in College (FTIC) students. The role primarily supports the Emergency Medical Services, Paramedicine, and Career Ready Health Science programs.
Responsibilities
- Manages a caseload of First Time in College (FTIC) students: answers questions, monitors progress, and advises students to improve completion rates. This includes reviewing student data, developing action plans, assigning mentors, providing services for special populations, promoting behavioral intervention strategies (BIT), and serving as a liaison between students, staff, faculty, and administrators (40%).
- Advises students on college programs and career options (20%).
- Teaches a zero-hour college success course to help students develop habits for academic success, providing weekly instruction and support (20%).
- Updates student information in the advising module to maintain accurate records (10%).
- Provides workshops on time management, study skills, and test-taking strategies (5%).
- Performs other duties as assigned (5%).

Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: Six months to two years of related experience required; four or more years preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Requires trust, diplomacy, and tact, with extensive personal contact. Involves motivating or influencing others and fostering relationships with external entities.
- Other Skills:
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn new software.
- Ability to establish rapport and develop relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including public presentations.
- Ability to work independently to complete projects and meet objectives.
- Physical Requirements: Typically sedentary work with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving. No special physical demands.
- Work Environment: Regular office conditions with no unusual hazards.

Pay
Salary range: $49,281.02 to $73,921.54 (Grade 10).
