Substitutes (Internal Pool)

About the role

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking flexible and dynamic Substitute Teachers for the 2026 - 2027 School Year. The ideal candidates will provide effective classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring the continued delivery of the curriculum.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans as directed by the regular classroom teacher.
• Manage classroom behavior to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Provide instruction in a variety of subjects or specializations as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
• Report any incidents or issues to the school administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching credential or substitute teaching permit (as required by the state or district).
• Previous teaching experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a classroom and engage students.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to different classroom settings.
