Substitute Teacher / Tutor (English)

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction using approved curriculum and effective teaching techniques.
• Develop long-range lesson plans and clear learning objectives for students.
• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed.
• Provide additional academic support outside regular classroom hours for students needing extra help.
• Address disciplinary concerns in alignment with Mooseheart's behavior management model.
• Model and promote socially appropriate behavior, including professional dress, communication, and conduct.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding youth, staff, and community information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (required).
• Valid Illinois teaching license or eligibility to meet Illinois certification requirements (required).
• Must be at least 21 years of age (required).
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills (preferred).
• Experience with behavior management (preferred).
• Prior experience working with youth or in a supervisory capacity (preferred).
• Must pass a comprehensive background check, including DCFS fingerprint clearance (required).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: Starting at $35,000 per year (aligned with the teacher salary schedule).
