Substitute Teacher/Teacher Assistant

Description of Position

The substitute is assigned to work in the absence of a regular employee to aid the department or school he/she is assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the department head or principal.

Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements

• Food Service, Clerical, Teacher Assistant: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bus Driver: High School Diploma or equivalent; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
• Teacher: Valid Mississippi educator's license OR four-year college degree OR be enrolled as a junior or senior in college majoring in education or in an academic area related to the area of the vacancy

Pay Scales

• Food Service Worker: $9.00/Hr
• Clerical: $12/Hr ($15/Hr for Retired Employees)
• Bus Driver: $18/Hr
• Teacher Assistant: $100/Day
• Teacher (Currently Enrolled): $125/Day
• Teacher (College Degree): $140/Day
• Teacher (Certified): $150/Day
• Long-term Substitute Teacher: $160/Day
