Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional(s)

About the role

Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals are needed for Day to Day and Long term positions. The Substitute Teacher provides appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the Building Principal. The Substitute Paraprofessional assists teachers by performing various tasks that promote student learning and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
• Follows instructional plans, lessons, experiments, and other support activities to present approved district curriculum in accordance with district goals and objectives.
• Maintains accurate records, tests, reports, etc.
• Establishes and maintains good rapport and communication with students, school personnel and parents.
• Establishes classroom routines and procedures and implements effective classroom management.
• Assists in providing a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
• Demonstrates professionalism, maintain confidentiality, accept constructive feedback and maintain an atmosphere that promotes student learning.
• Supports the classroom teacher in instruction by engaging in planning, following plans outlined by the teacher, and working with individual students/small groups.
• Supports the classroom teacher in assessment by monitoring independent work, collecting academic/behavioral data, and assisting in keeping accurate/current record of student progress.
• Supports the classroom teacher in organization by performing clerical duties, assisting in gathering/developing instructional materials, and maintaining an organized work environment.
