Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area(s) in accordance with the lesson plan(s), teacher schedule and/or campus schedule.
Education/Certification
- High School Diploma or General Education Certificate (GED) minimum.
- Bachelor degree, or higher, from accredited university preferred.
Special Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess good moral character.
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Deliver prepared lesson plans using a variety of presentation methods to keep students engaged and content relevant.
- Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes school wide expectations.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students by communicating appropriately and directly to develop their academic, social and emotional growth.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with coworkers and campus administration.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents by proactively communicating appropriately and directly as needed and/or required.
- Provide necessary accommodations and/or modifications as required by law and/or need for students.
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure that adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Report to office upon arrival at school; checks mailbox/teacher desk of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; requests clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
- Organize students for effective instruction.
- Dissmiss students from the classroom according to classroom and school schedules.
- Collect student work as directed by teacher lesson plans and/or as necessary for the activity.
- Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.
- Comply with, and support all classroom and/or school regulations and policies.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school policies and practices.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent walking.
- Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
- Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise.
