About the Role
All Hallows Academy is seeking a full-time, non-exempt substitute teacher to support classroom instruction and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
- Follow procedures and achieve lesson goals.
- Assign and explain homework.
- Oversee students outside of the classroom, including in the hallways and cafeteria.
- Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times.
- Take attendance and document daily notes.
- Ensure the classroom is kept clean and orderly.
- Oversee normal classroom rhythms and activities.
- Compile a report for the teacher for when he or she returns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Religious Qualifications
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred).
- Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy.
Professional Qualifications
- Possess a cleared California multiple subject teaching credential (preferred).
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for the Diocese of San Diego is a condition of employment).
- Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom.
- Positive professional references and recommendations.
Physical Requirements
- Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom, frequently holding objects for demonstration.
- Sit occasionally for tasks such as developing lesson plans or grading.
- Walk through the classroom, maneuver in tight spaces between desks, and navigate both even and uneven surfaces.
- Kneel, squat, stoop, or bend to interact with students.
- Reach at, below, or above shoulder height, occasionally requiring trunk or neck rotation.
- Assist in moving children’s desks and chairs to change classroom layouts.
- Lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.
- Be mobile within the school facility for meetings, trainings, and other work-related events.
- Conduct trips to various city and county-wide locations for trainings or workshops as required.

Pay
