Responsibilities

• Helps students to learn subject matter and/or skills required for scheduled lessons.
• Provides meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.
• Attends Substitute Teacher Orientation at WPA.
• Takes Substitute Training Class held by WPA.
• Reports to school office at the start of the school day to pick up required materials and schedule of classes.
• Reports to school office at the end of the school day to return materials.
• Fulfills sign out procedures as prescribed by the Managing Director.
• Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the students' maturity and interests.
• Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans.
• Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Maintains a neat and orderly classroom by straightening chairs, tables, clearing chalkboards, etc.
• Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
• Ensures students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Performs duties usually required of an absent teacher.
• Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
• Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems.
• Knows school procedures and regulations.
• Performs other related duties as directed by the principal.
