Substitute Teacher (Floater)
Job Summary
In the absence of a Teacher, act as teacher and carry out all responsibilities of the teaching position for all or part of the school day.
Essential Duties
- Follow the routines and procedures of the classroom teacher, to ensure the highest level of comfort for the children.
- Pay careful attention to the physical and emotional well being of each child, demonstrating warmth and consideration for children and parents.
- Share any difficulties or unusual occurrences with the classroom teacher, Assistant Director or Director
- Follow the classroom teacher’s directions and lesson plans in implementing projects and activities.
- Become familiar with and carry out all school routines and policies.
- Provide substitute care in other classrooms on an as needed basis.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma required.
- Licensure: None required. Teaching certification preferred.

- Collaboration and Teamwork: Function effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Recognize problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.
- Service Orientation: Anticipate, recognize, and meet the needs of others, whether they are clients or not.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
Experience
Experience working with young children required.
