Substitute Teacher (Degreed or Certified) - Fall 2026

Application Timeline

Substitute applications will be accepted beginning September 15, 2026, with screening through October 15, 2026. The earliest possible start date for substitute work will be after October 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• Substitute Degreed Teacher – Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university (foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a TEA‑approved credential evaluation agency).
• Substitute Certified Teacher – Valid Texas Education Agency (TEA) certification.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust daily routine.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Fluency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language is required.

Additional Application Requirements

• One positive professional reference required.

Terms of Employment

Substitutes are employed on an at‑will basis and are not considered contractual employees.

Fees

There is a fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00) associated with this application process.

Salary

• $110.00 per day for daily assignments.
• $145.00 – $180.00 per day for long‑term assignments.

Essential Functions

Responsible for implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated, in accordance with district policies and procedures on a day‑to‑day basis. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Working Conditions

• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
