Substitute Teacher

Primary Objective

Responsible for teaching middle and / or high school students subject matter in a way that demonstrates a gift for teaching, a demonstrated competence of the academic discipline, and a genuine love for educating students.

Reports to Academic Dean

Competency and Qualifications

• Gift of teaching
• Demonstrated general competence in academics
• Good classroom presentation skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents if necessary
• Agreement with Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision
• Genuine love for students

Knowledge and Expertise

• College degree preferred
• Teaching experience preferred, especially in classical and Socratic methodology
• Adequate computer skills

Major Roles and Objectives

• Teach assigned subjects and implement lesson plans for absent instructors of record
• Flexibility in schedule and general ability to teach across academic disciplines
• Manage classroom, including behavior issues
