Substitute Teacher

About the role

St. Philip’s Episcopal School seeks responsible and energetic Substitute Teachers to support faculty and staff in carrying out the school’s mission and curriculum. This position provides classroom coverage for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 when teachers are absent, with assignments made by the Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities

• Follow the teacher’s lesson plans to ensure consistency and optimal learning while encouraging student participation
• Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
• Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
• Supervise students outside of class, including in hallways and during recess and lunch
• Ensure the safety and adherence to schedule of children during your assigned classroom time

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Previous elementary school teaching experience and independent school experience preferred
• Strong command of the English language
• Excellent organizational skills
• Flexible, friendly, and able to establish quick rapport with students
• Authorization to work in the United States, background check, and fingerprinting required for employment
