About the Role

Creating a flexible, age-based program tailored to the subject matter taught and fostering a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. The role involves establishing effective rapport with students, motivating them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge to prepare for college, vocational school, or employment according to each student's ability. The position also includes building positive relationships with parents and staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state law and district administrative regulations.
  • Follow and/or create lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids, emphasizing discovery and laboratory learning where applicable.
  • Demonstrate subject matter concepts using models, whiteboards, projectors, computers, or other approved instructional aids.
  • Provide opportunities for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
  • Utilize fair grading patterns based on identified criteria.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere; treat pupils with respect and dignity.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and supplies; maintain required inventory records.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
  • Interact with students, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Establish rapport with students and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
  • Actively participate in the full implementation of the district’s School Improvement model.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Engage in faculty committees and sponsor student activities.
  • Enforce school board policies and regulations.

Compensation is determined per the negotiated agreement.
