Substitute Teacher

Requirements

• Attend a training session at Central office
• Watch a video on bloodborne pathogens
• Review the substitute teacher handbook
• Complete an expanded background check (cost starts at $32.65)
• Complete a drug screen (cost covered by Jennings County Schools)
• Provide two letters of recommendation (preferred from history of working with kids)
• Supply transcripts or copies of diploma or degree (attach to application or turn in later)
• Provide two forms of identification (passport, driver’s license, social security card, or birth certificate)

Qualifications

• Tier I: High school diploma ($70 daily)
• Tier II: Paraprofessional test completed/passed, Associates or Bachelors Degree ($75 daily)
• Tier III: Bachelor's Degree with Teaching license ($90 daily)
• Tier IV: Retired JCSC teacher in good standing ($110 daily)

• Two forms of identification may be attached to application or turned in later

Schedule

• Training sessions scheduled on the 1st Wednesday of every month at Central Office, 34 West Main Street, North Vernon, IN 47265
