Substitute Teacher

About the role

This on‑call, as‑needed position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible hours while making a positive impact on young children. As a Substitute Teacher you will support multiple mixed‑age Montessori classrooms serving children ages 0–6, helping maintain a calm, engaging, and nurturing learning environment. Many substitute teachers go on to become full‑time Assistant Teachers, providing a pathway to a longer‑term role at Guidepost Montessori.

Responsibilities

• Step into classrooms as needed to support children and maintain consistency.
• Assist with daily routines and classroom activities across mixed‑age groups.
• Help create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children.
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.
• Model patience, professionalism, and kindness in every interaction.

Requirements

• Negative TB test within the last 12 months.
• Valid state background check.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Warm, friendly, and dependable demeanor.
• Passion for working with young children.

Preferred qualifications

• Early Childhood Education (ECE) units (preferred but not required).
• Recent experience working with children ages 0–6.
