Substitute Teacher

About the role

Global Leadership Academy is seeking dependable, flexible, and student-focused Substitute Teachers to support our Intercoastal Campus. The ideal candidate will have experience working with middle school students and be comfortable maintaining a positive, structured classroom environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute Teachers play an important role in maintaining instructional continuity and ensuring students remain engaged and supported throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher.
• Provide instruction and supervision for students in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and expectations.
• Take attendance and maintain accurate classroom records as needed.
• Support students with assignments, classroom activities, and learning tasks.
• Communicate any significant student or classroom concerns to the appropriate school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
• Follow all school procedures, policies, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff as needed.
• Complete end-of-day classroom responsibilities and leave the classroom organized for the regular teacher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with middle school students preferred.
• Previous teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, coaching, childcare, or youth program experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and instructional needs.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Ability to work independently while following school procedures and lesson plans.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday as needed.
• Substitute positions are based on daily school staffing needs.
• Daytime, in-person position.
