Substitute Teacher
About the role
This position involves filling in for teachers during their absences in a PreK-8th grade classroom. The primary responsibilities include supervising students, presenting lesson activities, and covering any duties assigned to the absent teacher.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students and maintain classroom order.
- Teach basic academic, social, and other formative skills aligned with the school's Catholic character and Gospel values.
- Implement established teaching methods and adapt to students' varying needs and interests.
- Assign classwork and homework, and prepare students for later grades.
- Prepare and supervise students for Mass and other sacramental preparation.
- Communicate with parents and colleagues as necessary.
Requirements
Experience in education is preferred but not required. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to education, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage a classroom effectively.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
