Substitute Teacher

Qualifications

• Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Follow directions from the lead teacher in the classroom.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to listen and follow directions provided by the lead teacher;
• Organized and capable of multitasking;
• A great team player with co-workers;
• Dedicated to maintaining a high standard of care at all times with children;
• Can lift up to 25 lbs., stand for extended periods, climb into an indoor play structure, and sit on the floor to play with children;
• Think on their feet and work well under pressure, especially when working with children;
• Has the ability to assess and properly respond to situations that arise;
• Positive attitude and approach to problem-solving;
• Competent, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities;
• Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience;
• Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures;
• Ensure no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in the care of the school.
