Substitute Teacher

Part-time Substitute Teacher position in Charlotte, NC. Hours up to 14 hours per week, scheduled as needed on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:50 am to 4:00 pm. Childcare/nursery provided during class sessions. Pay range: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour.

About the role

Regina Caeli Academy is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting. Substitute teachers are called as needed when regular staff are absent and may decline assignments if unavailable. No teaching certification or formal experience is required; training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Teach in a highly structured, classical classroom environment on scheduled days.
• Prepare for classes at home and arrive prepared to instruct according to RCA standards.
• Follow provided curriculum and grading guidelines.
• Manage classroom activities and maintain a traditional student/teacher relationship.
• Participate in mandatory training videos/assessments and complete a background check.

Requirements

• Ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including receipt of all sacraments appropriate to one’s state in life.
• Availability to complete background check and RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching.
• Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children.
• Ministry experience in a Catholic parish.
• Teaching experience in Religious Education, Catechism, or a classical/private school.
• Experience teaching one’s own children.
