PARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 6 SUBSTITUTE TEACHER Salary - $20.00/hour Job Description A substitute teacher is on-call employee of a school. A substitute teacher may be called the day before they are needed or early in the morning on the day of the absence of the regular teacher due to illness or other obligations. A substitute teacher is expected to be a role model for the students just like regular teachers. He or she supports the main school calendar by stepping up when the agreed teacher is unable to take their full responsibilities. This employee is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Position Requirements Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participateInstruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instructionFollow lesson plans as required by schoolAssign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the lesson plansAddress the various learning styles of students accordinglyModel correct use of spoken and written English languageDemonstrate professional practicesFor long-term assignments, you may be required to develop lesson plans; create, administer, and grade tests/assignments; participate in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school related functions. Classroom Management Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school, state, and all applicable laws and regulationsEnsure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all studentsTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and school propertyRemain in classroom and monitor students at all timesReport all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the school secretary immediatelyMay supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
