Substitute Security Guard

About the role
The Speyer Legacy School, a K-8 school serving gifted learners, seeks a dynamic, innovative, and passionate Substitute Security Officer. They will be responsible for the security and safety of the school's faculty, staff, students, and all visitors. The ideal candidate should possess a positive work ethic, be able to collaborate effectively with others, and have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with students. The Substitute Security Officer reports directly to the Security & Safety Manager.
Responsibilities
- Serve as front entrance security presence and maintain high visibility.
- Secure identification and manage visitor sign-in and sign-out protocols.
- Distribute late passes to Lower School students.
- Answer incoming calls during arrival and dismissal.
- Report any facility issues.
- Patrol and monitor school indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
- Notify of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
- Monitor, respond, and investigate all alarm conditions (fire/life/safety).
- Take a role in the Fire, Life, Safety Emergency Response team and assist during fire and lockdown drills.
- Obtain S95 and F07 certifications within the first year of employment, as applicable.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
Requirements
- NY State security guard license.
- NY certification for S95 is a plus; the school will reimburse for examination certification.
Pay
$21-$25 per hour
