About the role
Inter-Lakes Community Action is seeking a Substitute Nutrition Assistant to support the delivery of nutritious meals to the elderly and children in their community through congregate meal services, home-delivered meals (Meals on Wheels), and the Head Start Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and prepare daily menus, ensuring meals are nutritious and prepared according to schedule.
- Record the amount and types of special food items served to maintain accurate records for compliance with State and Federal agencies.
- Estimate and order food supplies, inventory, and equipment as needed, maintaining efficient kitchen operations.
- Step in for the cook as needed, showcasing your culinary skills and ensuring continuity of service.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including monitoring food temperatures and portion sizes.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
- Auxiliary in the receiving and storage of inventory, ensuring proper dating and storage of food items.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in culinary arts or food service management is a plus.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
