Substitute Instructional Paraprofessional (Employed by the ESCCO)--$18.50/hour

Qualifications

• Good human relations with an ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
• A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (verified by college transcript from an accredited institution of higher education).
• Obtain an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in readiness for reading, writing, and mathematics.
• A neat appearance.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in the completion of classroom activities assigned by the Intervention Specialist.
• Assists the Intervention Specialist in routine classroom and school activities, implementation of IEP services, behavior plans, student assessment, playground and lunch duty.
• Assists in the preparation of classroom materials, displays, and individual student accommodations and modifications.
• Assists Special Education students in regular education classes, including attending class with student and providing student supports as needed and or indicated on IEP.
• Assists Intervention Specialist in maintaining a good learning environment, including classroom management.
• Assists students with personal health care needs such as toileting, personal hygiene and use of adaptive equipment.
• Participates in professional growth activities.
• Ensures the safety of students.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
• Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
• Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.

Substitute SALARY: $18.50 / HR
