Substitute In-Room Dining Server

About the role

Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Food & Beverage Department, the Substitute In-Room Dining Server is responsible for maintaining the in-room dining environment and equipment, keeping the area clean and tidy, and delivering and serving in-room orders to hotel guests while maintaining Forbes Five-Star standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the company’s philosophy and culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences, Departmental Legendary Quality Experiences, Guiding Principles, and D.E.L.I.G.H.T. to ensure guest satisfaction and achieve the mission statement.
• Set up tables according to side-work descriptions and mark tables appropriately for each course.
• Set up the dining table or tray accurately and in a timely manner according to the order.
• Deliver in-room dining orders to guests within the quoted time, providing excellent service at all times.
• Assist guests courteously and efficiently, addressing any requests and anticipating needs to ensure guests never have to ask for anything.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of food and beverage to assist guests with suggestions and upsell products, including liquors and cocktails.
• Pick up tables after use by guests or as requested.
• Complete all side work and prepare equipment for the continuation of operations.
• Ensure all silverware and glassware are wiped and spotless.
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of orders before delivery.
• Ensure all products served are accounted for on the final bill before presenting it to the guest.
• Confirm guest satisfaction before leaving the room.
• Attend all food and beverage training classes, daily pre-meal/communication meetings, and monthly department meetings.
• Wish each guest a good day/evening before departing the room.
• Deliver all checks and reports at the end of the shift according to established rules.
• Maintain the in-room dining environment and materials in a perfectly clean state as per side-work descriptions.
• Follow posted opening and closing duties and side-work sheets.
• Carry a master key, bottle opener, door stopper, and pager when delivering or picking up tables and trays.
• Generate a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Pay

$17.27–23.03 hourly, commensurate with experience and IWA guidelines.
