Substitute Education Assistant

Overview

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking dynamic educational champions to lead the district towards becoming a national exemplar of education transformation. They need leaders committed to ambitious outcomes for over 110,000 students and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist school teachers in instructing and supervising students to maintain a well-organized classroom environment.
• Prepare instructional materials and classrooms for activities.
• Supervise and assist students in the classroom and other areas of the school.
• Reinforce classroom lessons and provide other assistance as needed.
• May assist special needs students or coordinate special projects and programs as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours).
• A passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
