About the role
Provides engaging instruction, administers tests, and evaluates student progress, understanding, and proficiency in assigned field of Career and Technical Training.
Responsibilities
- Provides students with industry-recognized instruction and training.
- Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Administers and corrects tests; logs and maintains progress and attendance.
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Moves about the room to tutor, coach, evaluate, and assist each student as the need arises.
- Motivates and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
- Evaluates and supervises students in an on-the-job training experience.
- Participates in providing hands-on activities for students in the career preparation program.

Qualifications
- Certified, licensed, or accredited by the State of NY, or by an accredited professional trade organization
- Experience must meet the state or professional trade organization requirements
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management and content field
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills
- High energy level and ability to engage with students
- Ability to quickly learn Job Corps methodologies and strategies
- Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course materials
- Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise
- Must be proficient in the use of common computer software such as Microsoft Suite, Outlook, etc.
