About the role
This culinary position at Thompson Central Park New York requires basic communication skills and the ability to lift and carry moderate weight. Food and beverage experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Set up breakfast service: close drain valves, fill steam tables at start of shift, and ensure temperature setup for all bain-maries.
- Prepare and set out pastries, cereal, toaster, bagels, cut fruit, and whole fruit.
- Check tables and chairs for cleanliness and ensure condiment setup is complete (salt, pepper, soy sauce, Tabasco, and full napkin dispensers).
- Set up beverage station with full dispensers (milk, orange juice, hot chocolate, lemonade when available).
- Pick up hot options for the morning, such as oatmeal or the chef’s feature, from the line.
- Set out hot cereal condiments on the salad bar, including nuts, raisins, dried fruit, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Back up whole and cut fruit for all three meal periods.
- Follow the salad bar prep list, ensuring all food for overnight teams is prepared and stored properly.
- Date and label all food products for proper storage during and after service.
- Clean and sanitize all tables and refill napkin holders.
- Maintain hot food throughout the meal period, replenishing pans when half full and wiping down the area to keep it clean and presentable.
- Hold hot foods at 165 degrees, baste with sauces, and maintain fresh presentations; change pans as needed.
- Discard poor-quality food (consult if unsure) and replenish the salad bar and soup as needed.
- Taste all food items daily to ensure quality.
- Start food and paper requisition in the morning for the next day; complete by the night shift and leave in the chef’s office for authorization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay
Salary range: $31.1031–$41.4708 per hour.
