About the role
The Bilingual Paraeducator supports teachers in the instructional activities for students in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in providing a supportive learning environment for students.
- Support students in their educational goals and progress.
- Participate in planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide assistance with daily classroom activities such as organization, communication, and behavior management.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to enhance student learning outcomes.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge or and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics
- Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children or children/individuals with disabilities
- Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management and/or Early Childhood Education
